'Much Ado' set in Roaring '20s
      AS MERRY AS THE DAY IS LONG— Gretchen Waldron, Jordan Stidham and Ren Rudner perform in Oak Park High School's production of "Much Ado About Nothing" at 7 p.m. Thurs. through Sat., Oct. 23 to 25, and 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 25. The Shakespearean play has been adapted as a musical set in the 1920s. Tickets range from $7 to $15.

Cabrillo Music Theatre has assembled a stellar cast in presenting this opulent show at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. The performance is as beautiful to see as it is to hear.

Local violinist to perform
      Violinist Trina Boman, a Thousand Oaks resident, will solo with the Ventura College Symphony Orchestra at its Winner's Circle concert at 8 p.m. Sat., Oct. 25 at the school, 4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura. Boman won the 2008 Henry Schwab Ventura County Violin Contest.

Beach Girlz at The Canyon
      Pop singer Mandy Jiroux and her group Beach Girlz will have their first live performance from 7 to 8 p.m. Sat., Nov. 8 at The Canyon club, 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills. Jiroux appeared on the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in a dance battle with pop singer Miley Cyrus.
