Heschel to celebrate Blue Ribbon award

Heschel West Day School will celebrate its National Blue Ribbon Award at its Mitzvah Day/Blue Ribbon Celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Sun., Nov. 2 at the school, 27400 Canwood St., Agoura.

Mitzvah Day is a community-wide service day organized by the Jewish Federation.

The event will include activities to promote literacy and learning for the local and global community, such as writing letters to American soldiers overseas, making get well cards for hospitalized children, book readings and toy collections.

There will also be a Blue Ribbon presentation, a singalong with Heschel West students and a Blue Ribbon banner arts and crafts activity.

The event is free, but donations of books and toys will be accepted. The donations will be given to organizations that serve children in need.
