Stocking project sends cheer to the troops

Project Holiday Stocking will accept donations from Sat., Nov. 1 to Fri., Dec. 12.

The project sends season's greetings in the form of holiday stockings to American troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Stockings no longer than 20 inches in length can be dropped off at the following locations:

Thousand Oaks: Courtesy Chevrolet, 3610 Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Westlake Village: Merrill Lynch, 2815 Townsgate Road; Prudential California Realty, 1150 Lindero Canyon Road; Santa Barbara Bank and Trust, 101 N. Westlake Blvd.; North Ranch Cleaners, 3825 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Stockings should include a holiday card and a check for $9.80 to cover shipping.

Items in stockings may include some the following: multivitamins, overthecounter medicines, liquid body soap, ChapStick, foot powder, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush, shaving cream and razors, fingernail clippers and files, shampoo, scented body spray, disinfecting hand gel, wet wipes, duct tape, extra large Ziploc bags, DVDs, CDs, paperback books, snack foods, powdered drink mixes, instant or ground coffee, tea bags, AA and AAA batteries, AT&T phone cards, heat pack hand warmers, playing cards and dice, hair ties and clips, travel size plastic bottles, socks and small, easy-open cans of fruit, tuna or meat,
