Recruitment begins for temporary census takers

The Los Angeles Regional Census Center will conduct testing for persons applying for short-term positions in census taking starting January 2009.

Nonsupervisory positions include administrative assistant, recruiting assistant, office clerk, crew leaders, crew leader assistant and enumerator/lister. Salaries range from $11.25 to $18.50 per hour.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens 18 years or older and must pass an examination.

Local testing will be conducted at 10 a.m. Mon., Oct. 27 at West Oxnard Job & Career Center, 635 S. Ventura Road, Oxnard, and at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mon., Oct. 27 at Workforce Resource Center, 130 E. Ortega St., Santa Barbara.
