Alon Glickstein Alon Glickstein In his job as vice president of sales and quality for Stealth Aerospace in Canoga Park, Alon Glickstein works on solving problems to the satisfaction of many people. Glickstein believes this experience will serve him well if he is elected to the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council on Nov. 4.

Glickstein is running for one of two seats being vacated by longtime MAC members Deena Parry and Todd Haines, who are not seeking reelection. Besides Glickstein, Drew Fine and Derek Ross are also running.

"I work with many companies, negotiate deals and contracts, work with FAA representatives, deal with employee problems and negotiate among airlines," said Glickstein, 35. "I have a lot of experience helping everyone get accomplished what they need to."

Glickstein and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Oak Park from West Hills five years ago. Two of their three children, Daniel, 9, and Emily, 7, attend Brookside Elementary. Natalee, 3, is in preschool.

"Oak Park is such a great place to live, and I want to keep it that way," said Glickstein, who grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended Taft High School. "I enjoy the people, how everybody knows everybody, how everything is clean, the great parks, how kids are safe when outside playing. What is there not to love? You can't even compare this area to any other neighborhood close to us."

Glickstein's job is not as demanding as it once was, so he says he now has the time to serve on the MAC as a way to give back to the community. He has attended MAC meetings and has been impressed with the council's work.

"I see that the MAC listens to the people and tries to be responsive," Glickstein said. "I want to hear what the people need and want to make sure the Ventura County Board of Supervisors know about it and get it done."

Glickstein was encouraged to run by Oak Park friends and neighbors.

"Alon is a very intelligent person, and his heart is also in the right place," said Glen Harris, whose children attend Brookside with Glickstein's kids. "He definitely understands the wonderful character of Oak Park and wants to preserve it and build upon it."
