JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers BOUNCE BACK—Running back Lucky Radley, left, and the Agoura Chargers take on the winless Simi Valley Pioneers on Friday night. Carpinteria (2-3) at Oak Park (2-3)

Outlook: Two teams that have really struggled in recent weeks will go toe-to-toe Friday night at Oak Park.

The Eagles have dropped three of their last four games, two of which they've been held to seven points or less. Oak Park's offense, however, should be able to get on track against a Carpinteria defense that's allowed 74 points combined in its last two games, both of which were losses.

This is the Tri-Valley League opener for both programs, and with Oaks Christian and Santa Clara still undefeated at 50, a potential battle for the league's third playoff spot looms for Oak Park, Carpinteria and Nordhoff. OPHS must protect its home turf.

Agoura (3-2) at Simi Valley (0-5)

Outlook: Simi Valley has been blown out in its first two Marmonte League games, losing to Thousand Oaks, 35-7, and Moorpark, 45-14.

Agoura, meanwhile, had its own problems against T.O. in Week 5. The Chargers were run over by John Lister and Co. to the tune of 38-14. Lister, the talented senior tailback, had 144 yards on 16 carries vs. Agoura.

A bright spot for the Chargers was the play of senior wideout/ defensive back Kevin Hansen, who caught eight passes for 92 yards. Hansen is averaging 7.2 receptions per game.

At some point Simi Valley will break through with a big performance in front of its home crowd.
