Hits keep coming at Calabasas Challenger

Local tennis fans can catch a glimpse of some of the world's top tennis prospects as the Mercedes-Benz of Calabasas USTA $50,000 Pro Challenger continues this weekend at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center.

A proam and drills for all local players is being offered on Friday morning from 9 to 11. Lunch is included in the $50 entry fee.

Quarterfinal matches will follow the pro-am.

A USTA Junior Team Kids' Day will take place Saturday from 10:30 a.m. till noon. The cost is free for kids and includes tickets to the semifinals.

Semifinal matches begin at noon. The finals will take place Sunday beginning at noon.

American Vincent Spadea is the top-seed in the tournament and is currently ranked No. 89 in the world. Last year's champion, Robert Kendrick, who played at Pepperdine, is seeded No. 2.

Donald Young is the No. 7 seed and lost to fellow American James Blake at this year's U.S. Open.
