Strange endings at AHS Here's a brief recap of the last three football games played between Westlake and Agoura at AHS: 2004 — Agoura takes a 2724 lead with five seconds remaining, but Westlake's Jeff Rapoport scores the winning touchdown after receiving a lateral on the ensuing kickoff. Controversy erupts, with Agoura claiming a WHS player was down before he got rid of the ball. The Play, as it's known, is shown on ESPN's "SportsCenter." 2006 — Down 26-23 in the second overtime, Agoura's Matt Bradley plunges toward the end zone for a potential game-winning TD. Bradley, however, loses the ball right at the stripe and the refs rule it a fumble. Controversy erupts as Westlake recovers. 2008 — Westlake kicker Stephen Murphy's 41-yard field goal attempt in the waning seconds of regulation hits the gooseneck bar behind the crossbar and bounces into the end zone. The refs rule the kick no good, and Agoura prevails, 23-22. |
