Every vote counts, indeed Every politician that I've listened to since I've been listening to politicians has told me that my vote counts. Yeah, right, the election is going to be won by one vote—mine. No, of course not, and we all know it, so where's the motivation to go out and vote? Voting in a democracy is the right thing to do. Okay, that works for a lot of us. But what about those that just don't vote? You know, the ones who fear jury duty (jury duty comes from your driver's license renewal, by the way, not voting records). Then there are the people who never registered because they're too busy, they move a lot or whatever. Well, I'm running for public office, and I want to tell you as a person who is depending on votes that your vote does count. Get out there, stand in line, grin and bear it and vote. I'm running for Oak Park MAC (Municipal Advisory Council). Please check me out at drewfine.org and vote for me if you live in Oak Park, please. It's an amazing privilege to be able to step into that booth and exercise your right to choose the leaders of your community. The ability to vote and the power it represents is priceless, and you should make use of that power. Imagine for a minute that you are running for office; wouldn't my vote count? Drew Fine Oak Park |
