A fresh start for the new year
      SEEKING RENEWAL— At Paradise Cove in Malibu, 500 members and guests of Calabasas's Congregation Or Ami gather for the annual Rosh Hashana Tashlich walk to the beach. Following the service, participants threw bread crumbs into the Pacific Ocean and symbolically cast away their sins.

Church to hold Harvest Festival
      St. Paul Lutheran Church will hold a Harvest Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Sat., Oct. 18 at the church, 30600 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills. The event will have games, inflatables, cakewalk, popcorn, funnel cake, snow cones, live entertainment and giveaways.

      Noah Rashba was called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Aug. 30 at Temple Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks. He is an eighth grade honor student at Medea Creek Middle School and the son of Julie and Marc Rashba of Oak Park.

      Peace Ministries of Oxnard will present The Face of War from 7 to 9 p.m. Fri., Oct. 24 and from 4 to 7 p.m. Sat. and Sun., Oct. 25 and 26 at the church, 2300 W. Gonzales Road, Oxnard. The exhibit showcases photographs and stories from war veterans.
