IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers NOWHERE TO RUN—Oak Park High quarterback Kyle Andrus, right, gets a block from Tyler Benton, No. 6, and heads downfield during last weekend's 7-0 loss at Newbury Park. OPHS fell to 1-2. Venice (0-4) at Oaks Christian (4-0)
Outlook: Oaks Christian is on a mission, Venice is struggling, and this game has the look of another blowout for OCHS.
Venice, which shocked Oaks Christian a year ago, has scored 20 points in four games and has been shut out twice.
The Lions only allow 6.7 points per game. We'll take the under, please.
Offensively, OCHS quarterbacks Nick Montana and Tony Macarena are spreading the ball all over the field. Nine different receivers have caught a pass for the Lions thus far.
Running back Malcolm Jones has been virtually unstoppable. He's averaging 9.1 yards per carry on the season.
Viewpoint (1-2) at Malibu (3-0)
Outlook: Since starting the season on a strong note with a 36-0 win over Ribet Academy, Viewpoint has been outscored 103-7 in its last two contests, both of which were blowout losses.
Malibu, on the other hand, is going in the opposite direction after having dispatched Channel Islands, Bellarmine-Jefferson and St. Genevieve.
The Sharks are all about running the ball, and as a team they average 7.8 yards per carry. Sean Conrad is Malibu's workhorse.
VHS counters with a run-first philosophy as well. Tailbacks Nate Forer, Matt Arnold and Brandon Kamrava need to grind out the tough yards so quarterback Harrison Bernsen can make plays downfield.
