Eagles, Lions match up for the first time this season Two powers will collide tonight when the Oaks Christian girls' volleyball team hosts its rival, Oak Park High, at 6 p.m. Entering Wednesday night's game against St. Bonaventure, Oak Park was 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the Tri-Valley League. Oaks Christian is 721 overall and 3-0 in the TVL. The Lions have won three of the past five contests against the Eagles. Last year, the teams split their two matches, with each squad winning on the road. OCHS is 3-0 this year at home. Tara Robinson, who has a team-high 67 kills, and Brina Clark, who has a team-high 93 digs, lead the Lions. Oak Park is led by a trio of juniors—Rachel Band, Hayley Verner and Inga McManus. Band leads the Eagles with 50 kills; McManus has the most digs on the squad with 67, while Verner has a team-high 26 assists. "We haven't seen Oaks Christian play since the summer, and we split two games with them then," Oak Park head coach Pat Quinn said. "In order to win, we need to cut down on our hitting and serving errors. If we do that, we should be fine." In other news, Oak Park's scheduled match against La Reina on Thurs., Oct. 9 has been pushed back to Fri., Oct. 10 because of Yom Kippur. |
