AIDS benefit concert slated

Of the 17 million people who have died from AIDS in Africa, 3.7 million are children. The death toll is rising every day.

Music Gives, an organization created by three local high school students, wants to help fight the trend.

Yassi Shahmiri from Agoura High School, Jenna Maranga from the High School at Moorpark College, and her sister, Bri Maranga, from Westlake High School are senior students who started the organization two years ago.

They've been putting together music shows are various local venues with upandcoming rock bands, with all proceeds going directly to Lily of the Valley (L.O.V.E).

Lily of the Valley is an orphanage stationed in KwaZulu, Africa and has children of all ages who are either HIV positive, or have full blown AIDS.

This Sat., Oct. 4, Music Gives will host another show with four local bands: Growing Feathers, Olin & the Moon, Red & Purple and Indian Giver. The event is at The Cage, 29646 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. For more information call (818) 282-2314.
