Jim Senn, 82, of Westlake Village, recently received the President's Volunteer Service Award at a ceremony held in Washington, D.C.

The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation created the award to honor American citizens who, by their example and commitment to service, inspire others to participate in volunteer opportunities in their communities

Senn is spending his retirement years as a volunteer at the Women's Resource Center at 80 E. Hillcrest Drive, Ste. 130, Thousand Oaks.

Since he began serving at the center in October 2002, the number of services offered has dramatically increased. Some of these services include free ultrasounds, STI testing, gynecological clinic services, pregnancy testing and counseling.

Senn is responsible for integrating technology which enables the center to input data and create detailed statistical reports, making the center efficient in assisting many women and children in need.
