Agoura Hills hosts annual Reyes Adobe Days festival
Most events will be at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site, 5464 Reyes Adobe Road in Agoura Hills. •Fri., Oct. 3—RAD kicks off with a Fiesta at the Adobe, a luncheon for seniors offering Mexican food, Spanish dancing, live music, art displays and free tours of the adobe home and museum. The event is $8 (by reservation only) and is partially sponsored by the Agoura Hills Senior Retreat. For reservations, call (818) 597-7361. Tickets are available until the event sells out. A new event this year is "Night at the Adobe" at 6:30 p.m. The master artist for the evening's show is horse painter Fred Stone. Wade Wines will sponsor a wine tasting. Teens ages 10 to 15 are invited to attend Hay Fever, a slate of activities featuring comedy sports, skate park, henna tattoos, disc jockey and food, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Agoura Hills/ Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road, Calabasas. Tickets are $12 in advance at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center and $15 at the door. •Sat., Oct. 4—A Day at the Adobe begins at 8:30 a.m. with pre-parade activities, car show and circusstyle entertainment. The actual Reyes Adobe Days Parade starts at 10 a.m. at Forest Cove Lane and travels along Thousand Oaks Boulevard for one mile, ending at the abode. Terri Nunn of the former hit rock group Berlin is the parade's Grand Marshal. The parade will feature floats, bands, jugglers, clowns, stilt walkers and other entertainment. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Reyes Adobe Historical Site offers families a day of California heritage through music, dance, interactive historical demonstrations, pony rides, children's games, Victorian games, art expo, food vendors and free guided tours of the site. •Sun., Oct. 5— A tasty pancake breakfast at the Adobe begins at 8 a.m. and is followed by a 5K Run, Family Fun Fun and health expo, all located at the adobe. The breakfast is $5. Run entry fees, T-shirt and breakfast are $20 for early-sign-up or $25 the day of the event. The Family Fun Run/Walk is $15 for early sign-up or $20 the day of the event. Entry forms are available at the Agoura Hills Recreation Department, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. A gymkhana equestrian event and barbecue begins at 9 a.m. at the Old Agoura Equestrian Arena. Riders are invited to bring their horses. The event is open to all ages. Participants will be placed in appropriate classes for six contests. The cost is $5 per event or all six contests for $25. Proceeds will benefit the Old Agoura Homeowners Association's scholarship fund. Entry forms with requirements are available at the Department of Community Services, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Agoura Hills. Reyes Adobe Days concludes with music at the Adobe from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a free outdoor concert with Latin jazz by the award-wining band L.A. Carpool, the Masanga Marimba Ensemble and El Chicano. The concert is adjacent to the historical site, which will be open for tours during this time.
