The Acorn's High School Football Game of the Week
Channel Islands Raiders (0-3) at Calabasas Coyotes (1-1) Friday, 7 p.m.

      It wasn't a shock that moments after the Calabasas High football team beat Hueneme last week, 23-13, the CHS students rushed Keith Ritchie Field. Who could blame them? The last time the Coyotes had won a home game was against Nordhoff on Sept. 27, 2002.

Wilk makes it 18 straight tourney titles
      Golf amateur Leslie Wilk, 53, of Agoura Hills has won the Woodland Hills Country Club Women's Golf Championship for the 18th consecutive year. Wilk scored 78, 79 and 83 with four birdies on the women's par72 course known for its tight fairways and small greens.

Swimmer excels at Jr. Olympics
      Sammy Wolfson, a freshman at Agoura High, put together a fantastic all-around performance in the Junior Olympics at Mission Viejo. Wolfson finished in third place in the 100meter backstroke, gained seventh-place honors in both the 200 backstroke and 50 freestyle, and was eighth in the 100 freestyle.

Homecoming festivities set at CLU
      The California Lutheran University Alumni Association will celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend from Thurs., Oct. 9 to Sun., Oct. 12. The festivities officially begin at 8 p.m. Oct. 9 with the homecoming coronation ceremonies at Lundring Events Center. The 2008 homecoming king and queen will be crowned as part of CLU's long-standing tradition.

Agoura sinks Thousand Oaks in a high-scoring affair
Chargers take league opener, 15-11

      If Tuesday's boys' water polo game between Agoura and Thousand Oaks was any indication of what the Marmonte League is going to be like in 2008, then fans are in for a thrilling journey. The Chargers, coming off an undefeated season in league and a CIF-Southern Section Division IV title, defeated TOHS 15-11 at home in both teams' first Marmonte game of the year.

Girls' volleyball teams from TVL earn voters' respect
      A trio of Tri-Valley League girls' volleyball teams has cracked the top 5 in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division II-A coaches' poll released Monday. Oak Park High is ranked third in the division, followed by Oaks Christian (No. 4) and La Reina (No. 5).
