Building owner can do as she pleases

I think it is high time to redesign our flag from red, white and blue, dropping the white and blue and substituting a hammer and sickle for the stars. There seems to be a continuous discussion why Diane Salerno leased the Stage Door Theatre building to someone else and why she didn't allow the old renters to match the new lease.

Not long ago there was a similar upheaval about a property owner cutting down some dirty trees. Why did these property owners dare to act as they did? Because they own the property, they pay the taxes and they pay for the maintenance. They own the property fee simple. Neither of these properties are community properties.

All your indignant readers should mind their own business or move to North Korea and join the Communist Party. If they work their way up to the Central Committee they could tell everybody what to do with their land and buildings, or in the alternative, mind your own business and stay where you are.

There is another other alternative—make an offer they can't refuse and buy the properties. I bet you they both would sell if the price is right. Alex Illes Calabasas
