Mobile car wash ordinance another example of meddling by government
      Great for Calabasas, one more new regulation. It seems that Calabasas has a quest for a near perfect utopia. Every time I look they are regulating something. Now it's fundraising carwashes. They have an oppressive regulation regarding recreational vehicles parked on your own property, antismoking, anti-plastic bags, etc.

Building owner can do as she pleases
      I think it is high time to redesign our flag from red, white and blue, dropping the white and blue and substituting a hammer and sickle for the stars. There seems to be a continuous discussion why Diane Salerno leased the Stage Door Theatre building to someone else and why she didn't allow the old renters to match the new lease.

Defending school teacher retirement
      Julie Freeman of Calabasas writes that "Our state borrows money each year . . . to pay for teachers' retirement benefits we can afford to pay out." Let me set the record straight. Public school teachers, as well as school administrators, fund their own retirement plan, with an 8 percent contribution from all school-based income.

Students deserve our support
      Several members of our Oak Park community have written asking why the community of Oak Park should support a bond that will help the "out-of-district transfers." I believe these individuals are completely forgetting about our kids.

      The entire Oak Park community can be proud of Oak Park schools. They provide an exceptional education. Oak Park student performance levels are the highest in Ventura County and among the best in the state and nation.
