Dogs gone, owner upset over decision
      Sandy Espinoza wants her cat and 13 dogs back from Los Angeles Animal Care and Control so she can take them with her on a road trip to Missouri. Esponoza said she and her pets were separated on Aug. 4 when the California Highway Patrol came to her Thousand Oaks home and arrested her for a warrant on an unrelated matter.

Great pie for a good cause
      DELICIOUS— Malibu United Methodist Church will host the 19th annual Malibu Pie Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Oct. 4 at 3835 Cross Creek Road, Malibu. The event will include pies, auction, children's activities, pie judging, and pie eating contest. The Melvin Eddy Blues Band and Steve Cole's Jazzaster Funkadelics will provide music.
