Oaks Christian breaks ground for new school

Oaks Christian School will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Fri., Sept. 19 to celebrate its new middle school facility expansion adjacent to the current school campus.

A $15-million campaign has been launched to renovate the sevenacre site at Condor Pacific, a 72,000squarefoot building which borders the Oaks campus at 31829 La Tienda Drive, and which the school has leased for 40 years with the option to buy.

The design of the new facilities and programs will be geared toward the academic development of middle schoolaged children and will feature stateoftheart learning areas with individual classrooms that encircle a large group meeting room.

The campus will also include space for student clubs, indoor/ outdoor dining facilities, play areas, and athletics facilities for soccer, baseball, softball, football, tennis and general physical education. A pedestrian bridge will allow access between the middle and high school campuses.

Oaks Christian officials say current facilities have become inadequate to meet the curriculum requirements of a growing middle school program and the campus's increased enrollment.

The creation of a separate middle school campus will enable Oaks to convert existing middle school classrooms into additional space for the high school, and allow for more student admissions at both levels, officials said.

More than 350 middle school students and 730 high school students attend the school.

The new campus is expected to open its doors in the fall.
