Stage Door's call to arms
      In response to one letter which stated, "Does anyone care?" regarding the Stage Door Theatre's closure, the answer is an absolute "yes." Obviously many people love Mike and Gale, who contribute so much to our community.

Farewell to Oak Park's Dick Billingsley
      I wanted to express my surprise and sadness to learn that this is Coach Billingsley's last year at the helm of Oak Park football. I cannot possibly imagine Oak Park football without him. It is almost like trying to picture the Dodgers without Vin Scully. For me, Coach B., as we called him, represents everything that is good about high school football.

Non-district students should pay more
      The outside of district students bring in over $3.5 million to OPUSD. It only covers 12 percent of the budget and yet they comprise over 20 percent of the student body. I'm no math major, but that doesn't add up. Either make them pay a percentage of the budget that covers all their cost or stop the outside of the district enrollment.

Vote for Measure R
      Thank you to Oak Park residents for overwhelmingly passing Measure C this past June. Your approval of this measure by 83 percent should not be overlooked, as this is highly indicative of the priority given to public education in Oak Park.

Oak Park schools good the way they are
      Highest combined API score in Ventura County for Oak Park Unified School District of 891. Medea Creek had the top middle school score and Oak Park High jumped 40 points over last year to 878. Red Oak Elementary rose 22 points to 905 and Oak Hills increased by 7 to 934.

      Bob Singer of Calabasas deserves the public's gratitude for ensuring that the board of directors of the Las Virgenes Water District was duly informed of the scientific studies demonstrating artificial water fluoridation as an ineffective treatment for cavities.
