Postal recycling bin needed in Calabasas
Why doesn't the post office in Calabasas have a recycling bin to collect unwanted junk mail, catalogs, etc.? The trash cans in there are always overflowing, and it just doesn't make sense not to recycle all that paper, especially for a community as environmentallyconscious as Calabasas.

The scoop on Chumash Park
I read with interest the letter from Traci Craig regarding dogs "running amok" in Chumash Park, and her heads-up to parents that their children are running through dog feces when they play at the park. Ms. Craig has made the leap that off-leash dogs are dangerous and unsafe and that their owners are not picking up their feces.

Ordinance proved threatening to the First Amendment
In the face of a complaint from the ACLU that it had violated the First Amendment, the Calabasas City Council has backed down and rescinded a law on how the city gives out community service grants to nonprofit organizations. The law disqualified any organization with a board member who had ever sued the city, city council members or city employees.

Too much debt for our schools
Lately, you have printed several letters from parents concerned about providing more money for our public schools. I am a parent of three elementary school children in Calabasas who is more concerned about the school bonds and other debt our public schools are forcing on our children.

Oak Park School District has lost its focus
In his Sept. 4 letter David Ross says out-of-district students are "needed to offer a comprehensive educational program in Oak Park schools." That doesn't make sense. We were winning national awards when our enrollment was much smaller than it is now.

District needs outside students
Recently a few writers to The Acorn have questioned whether the Oak Park Unified School District has been wise to accept students who transfer from other school districts.

Out-of-district students are a taxing problem
I find it interesting Mr. Irwin feels if we do not support an additional $29 million in property taxes for the Oak Park school system, we are then not supporting the community. Additionally, it's equally interesting Mr.

Setting the record straight on Triunfo Sanitation District
My opponent for a seat on the Triunfo Sanitation board is again bringing up very old matters that were answered some two to four years ago. Nevertheless, since he and his supporters want to rehash it out again let us look at them again.

Village plan needs public input
What happened to the public planning process of Agoura Village? Meetings held years ago invited everyone to participate. Now the city of Agoura has developer's plans in hand—why aren't they having a community meeting?

Friendly theater
In agreement with Loris Lorback and Margott Rifenbark, I have enjoyed the Stage Door Theatre for more than 20 years. There are no more friendly people like Mike and Gale who greet you with friendly kindness and seat you to your requested seat.

Theater was given the boot
The time has come for some clarification. The Acorn's Aug. 21 article announcing the closing of the Stage Door Theatre quotes Diane Salerno as saying "I felt they haven't dealt with me in good faith" and goes on the say that "Salerno claims that Monteleone and Trumbeaux were the ones who scuttled the deal.

Farewell to Stage Door Theatre
In this, my first letter to The Acorn editor, I'd like to pay tribute to an Agoura Hills institution, Stage Door Theatre. I feel almost like there's a death in the family. Who can forget the dramas and comedies Gale and Mike Monteleone put together on that tiny stage.
