Clowns, workshops at family festival
      Lutheran churches from Ventura County are jointly sponsoring a Faith Family Festival Fri. and Sat, Sept. 26 and 27 at various sites in Thousand Oaks. All events are open to the public and free of charge except where noted.

Church to host fall kickoff with picnic, concert
      Christian Church of the Hills will host its fall kickoff on Sun., Sept. 14 at the church, 29295 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. The five-member Pearce Family Bluegrass Band of Santa Clarita will give a mini-concert during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Pastor Dave Cruse will begin a message series on "Nurturing Healthy Families.

      B'nai B'rith of Conejo Valley will meet at 7 p.m. Mon., Sept. 22 at Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Pastor to go the distance in triathlon
      The Rev. Andrew Mattick of Malibu United Methodist Church will be competing in the Malibu Triathlon this Sun., Sept. 14. At last year's event the pastor was shaking a purple tambourine, holding up a sign reading, "Malibu Methodist Loves the Tri" and cheering on the bike leg participants down at Zuma Beach.

Jewish singles to gather
      The Ventura County Jewish Federation of Singles will host a potluck dinner for at 6 p.m. Sat., Sept. 27. The location will be given when a reservation is made. Jewish singles ages 40 to 60 are invited to bring an instrument for singing and/or a favorite game to play, as well as a dish to share.

Kids' choir auditioning
      The Los Robles Children's Choir is holding auditions for all three of its choirs. The choir is open to children ages 8 to 17. Each choir meets weekly from September through May at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village.
