At The Library

The Westlake Village Library has announced its upcoming events. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at the library, 31220 E. Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village. For more information, call (818) 865-9230.

•Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to read aloud to a Paws 4 Healing therapy dog at 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 13. Sign-up is required.

•Kids' Book Clubs for elementary school students will be held at 3 p.m. every Saturday in September.

•Toddler story times and Music with Motion will run at 10:30 a.m. on alternating Thursdays through Oct. 30.

•Preschool story times will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays. Story times are intended for children ages 3 to 5 and include stories, songs and crafts.

•The Brown Bags and Books group will meet at noon Fri., Oct. 3. Attendees will discuss "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Mao" by Junot Diaz. New members are welcome.

The Agoura Hills Library has announced its upcoming events. Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held at the library, 29901 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills.

•Story time for children ages 3 to 5 will be at 11 a.m. Tuesdays. Story time for children ages 1 to 2½ will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Story times include stories, music and art.

The program runs from Sept. 16 to Dec. 10.

•The library's Book Cellar is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday. The shop has books for children and adults, books on tape, CDs, DVDs, videos and magazines available for purchase.

Paperback books start at 50 cents; hardcover books start at $1.

•The county of Los Angeles Public Library has new circulation policies. Patrons will receive a receipt when checking out materials rather than a stamp on the materials.

Books may be borrowed for 21 days. DVDs, videos, magazines and encyclopedias may be borrowed for seven days. Most books may be renewed if there is no waiting list for the book.

The policy is to charge a fee for materials that are returned after the due date. Fees are charged per item for each day beyond the due date, including holidays and other days the library is closed.

Materials borrowed on an adult card will be charged 25 cents per overdue day. Materials borrowed on a child card will be charged 10 cents per overdue day.

The charge for replacing lost or damaged materials is the replacement cost of the item and a $7.50 processing fee.
