Longtime Oak Park football coach says this is his final year on the gridiron
      Oak Park High head football coach Dick Billingsley is learning to say goodbye. Last year, Billingsley bid adieu to the majority of the Eagles' starting lineup, as star players such as Sean Westgate and Kyle Shorten graduated.

Lions gunning for another state championship appearance
      The Oaks Christian football program has gone through a roller coaster of emotions during the offseason. In December, Lions head coach Bill Redell and his wife, Cheryl, were involved in a vicious automobile accident on the 10 Freeway that left each of them with compression fractures in their backs. Both are making full recoveries.

      Agoura Chargers Last season's results: (Tied for 3rd in Marmonte, 6-4 overall) Agoura defended its home turf well, going 4-1 at AHS. The Chargers picked up victories against Ventura and Rio Mesa in non-league action, and Marmonte wins against Simi Valley, Moorpark, Royal and Calabasas. Agoura didn't lose when it scored 27 or more points in a game.

      Six California Lutheran University standouts will be inducted into the Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame on Sat., Sept. 13 at Lundring Events Center on the CLU campus. The following inductees will be honored for their outstanding contributions to intercollegiate athletics during the sixth annual Induction Ceremony at 6 p.m.

Westgate scores UCLA's first touchdown of season
      Oak Park High graduate Sean Westgate, a freshman on the UCLA football team, scored the Bruins' first touchdown of the season on a blocked punt during Monday night's 27-24 overtime victory against Tennessee at the Rose Bowl.
