Be open to garage door safety
      The garage door is the largest moving object in a home, so keep it operating safely. Regularly check mounting tracks and hardware. If they are not attached properly, the door might come off the track and fall. Corner brackets are usually connected to high-tension cables. If loose, these brackets could fly off at dangerous speeds.

      An orientation for teens interested in volunteering with the Conejo Valley Friendship Circle will be held from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Sun., Sept. 7 at the Milken Jewish Community Center, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. The Conejo Valley Friendship Circle is a program that extends friendship to families in the Jewish community who have children with special needs.

Spider exhibit at museum
      The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles will present a Spider Pavilion from Sun., Sept. 21 to Sun., Nov. 2 at the museum, 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles. The walk-through pavilion is home to hundreds of freeroaming spiders. Visitors can observe spiders as they interact with one another, create webs and feed on their prey.
