Free career testing for students

The threehour Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test of the Career Exploration Program will be offered to sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Las Virgenes Unified School District at 8 a.m. Sat., Sept. 6 in Room A-1 at Agoura High School, 38545 Driver Ave., Agoura Hills.

There is no charge for the exam.

The test consists of eight individual multiplechoice tests, covering academic and vocationaltechnical abilities and skills. It produces three career exploration scores for verbal, math and science, and technical skills.

These scores will help guide students in developing realistic personal career goals and to make informed college and career decisions to realize their full potential.

Although the test is administered by military personnel, students are not obligated to speak with military recruiters or to sign up for military service.

Jean Gilbert Hawkins, college and career adviser at Agoura High, will explain the test results to students in September.

The registration deadline for testing is 3 p.m. Tues., Sept. 2.

To register, e-mail Hawkins at ahsccc@lvusd.org with the student's name, gender, grade, high school and contact phone number. Include "ASVAB" in the message's subject line.

For more information, call Hawkins at (818) 889-1262, ext. 238.
