Theater just won't be the same

Regarding the Stage Door Theatre closing, it is a rarity to meet people who pour their heart and soul into a venture not just because they love it but because they wish to give back to their community as well.

Mike Monteleone and Gale Trumbeaux of the Stage Door Theatre are such people who for 28 years have provide Conejo Valley residents with a iconic and irreplaceable theatre. Now, without warning, landlord Diane Salerno has ordered Mike and Gale to vacate the theatre. Why, Diane? Mike and Gale offered to match what the new tenants would pay and yet their offer was ignored.

It seems apparent that the new tenants will have their work cut out for them—the potentiality of having to remove gas lines, the implementation of handicapped access as well as new parking spaces. I can only imagine how many years it will take the new tenants to recoup their investment. Are the new tenants aware of this colossal undertaking?

Ms. Salerno, you have the opportunity to do something good here. Let Mike and Gale continue serving the hundreds of patrons who have frequented the theatre for more than a generation.
