Bumpy ride through the neighborhood Just a few comments with regard to previous letters about speed bumps in residential areas. I don't live in Calabasas, but we also have and need speed bumps in Agoura too. If drivers, teens and adults alike, would abide by the posted speed warnings, those speed bumps would not have to be there. You're driving in a residential area while cars are trying to back out of driveways, children are playing in the area or on bicycles, skate boards, etc. and you want to speed up and down the street over the speed limit. What do you think is going to happen? It's not just your average vehicle racing these streets, but I see and hear FedEx, UPS and other types of delivery trucks go racing over those bumps, banging and clanging because of the cargo they are carrying. And motorcyclists think they're riding in the motocross. I sometimes expect to find nuts and bolts and auto parts lying in the street due to the stress they have imposed on their vehicles because they won't slow down and maintain a safer speed. It might encourage people to slow down if those speed bumps were made a tad steeper and maybe painted a more florescent color. If you care about your vehicle, you'll observe the speed laws and slow down a bit. Again, I feel we must have these speed bumps because of the stupidity of a lot of drivers who have no concern for the law, safety or well being of their vehicle. Trudy Willauer Agoura Hills |
