City prepares for Reyes Adobe Days health expo

Plans for the annual Agoura Hills Reyes Adobe Days in October are underway, including a call for groups in the health industry to reserve booth space for this year's Health Expo.

Meredith Petit, the city's recreation supervisor, said the Health Expo will once again be a segment of the Reyes Adobe Days 5K and Fun Run event on Oct. 5, from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

"Booths are available as space permits," Petit said. "There is no fee, but groups must be associated with running, health, fitness (or) nutrition."

Last year, free medical screenings were offered to guests. Screenings included height, weight, blood pressure readings and body mass index measurements, Petit said. In all, 15 booths were on hand to provide health, fitness and nutrition advice to guests, including representatives from Roadrunner Sports, Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center, Head to Toe Massage, Advanced Chiropractic, Relay for Life and others.

Relay for Life, a nonprofit group with the American Cancer Society that hosts 24-hour relay events each year throughout the nation to raise awareness for cancer research, education and other services, has already signed up for a booth, Petit said.

The city's Department of Community Services is also accepting donations of bottled water, fresh fruit and healthy snacks for refreshments, as well as giveaways and promotional material for the runners' goodie bags, Petit said.

The application process is not formal, Petit said. For more information, call (818) 5977367.
