TALL TALE—Brett Trebil hooks a 19-pound albacore tuna while fishing with his friends during a recent fishing trip. My husband Brett and I went fishing on Aug. 16th out of San Diego with our friends Mark and Nicole Warren and two of Mark's coworkers. Brett and I are from Calabasas while Mark and Nicole just moved to San Diego from Phoenix, Ariz.

We headed to the San Diego pier for a day of fishing. The morning started off pretty cold but the sweet smell of fish was in the air. After trolling for a little while, we started fishing around some paddies.

About two hours into our trip, Brett and I both caught our first albacore almost at the same time. Mine weighed about 20 pounds and pulled me around the boat while Brett's weighed about 19 pounds and didn't struggle as much—or maybe he took charge more? The two other men on our boat had hooked some fish but never got any on to the boat.

Our friend Mark caught his first dorado while his wife Nicole hooked a yellow fin, but after the fourth time the yellow fin wanted to run he got away. At least Mark brought in the dodo, as our fishing guide called it in.

That night, we invited some people to the house and barbecued the fish.
