HGTV designer gets cookin'

Kitchen makeover is the most complicated and costly remodeling project for homeowners. To simplify the process, Ilene Crouppen, an HGTV featured designer, is leading a three-part kitchen remodeling workshop at 6:30 p.m. on three Wednesdays beginning Sept. 3 at Let's Get Cookin', 4643 Lakeview Canyon Road, Westlake Village.

Participants will learn how to create the best kitchen for their own needs and style. Principles of space planning and the latest products available in appliances, flooring and other materials will be discussed as well as incorporating environmentally friendly aspects such as ventilation, nonallergenic surfaces, and efficient gas, water and electric use.

"Designing a kitchen is about more than updating appliances and installing granite countertops." Crouppen said. "Understanding how people cook, how they entertain, what their budget is, and how long they will be in their home are all important considerations."

Crouppen, a credentialed and certified interior designer, is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers. She has been featured multiple times on HGTV's "Designer's Challenge" and is one of 16 designers featured by Better Homes and Gardens in the book "The Best of Designer's Challenge." Her company, Geometrix Interiors, has been in business for 28 years.
