Law firm chooses Westlake

Gym for the pros debuts in Oak Park

VERT Fitness, a training system formerly used by Olympic and professional athletes, has opened a private training facility in the Oak Park Plaza in Oak Park.

The gym is the fifth of its kind in the United States and has been used by athletes including Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Oscar DeLaHoya, and Olympians Holly McPeak and Mark Spitz.

Utilizing computer-controlled resistance machines, personal training at VERT accommodates the fitness goals for any client, from working adults to aspiring competitive athletes.

VERT's staff includes a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a former pitcher for the L.A. Dodgers. The director of sports medicine has a PhD.

Equis promotion in Calabasas

Lisa Knupp of Equis Financial Staffing in Calabasas was promoted from recruiting manager to director of recruitment services.

Knupp handles placement of CPAs and other accounting and finance professionals. She will also handle internal training for the direct hire placement department of Equis.

Before becoming a financial recruiter with Equis, Knupp was technical recruiting manger at Cross Creek Systems in Westlake Village and in her two years there became the fastest promoted associate in the company's history.

Jobs for vets

The California "Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet" Job and Resource Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wed., Sept. 17 at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills.

The event is to assist veterans, National Guard members and reservists returning from active duty.
