Sumac elementary kicks off fall term

Sumac Elementary School will host the third annual Kickoff Day on Tues., Aug. 26 in the school's multipurpose room, 6050 Calmfield Ave., Agoura Hills.

The event will have staggered start times to ease crowding: new families arrive at 4 p.m.; returning families with last names A to L arrive 4:45 p.m., and returning families with last names M to Z arrive 5:30 p.m.

Class assignments will be posted inside the multipurpose room. Spanishspeaking volunteer translators will be available. The event will provide families with information about volunteer opportunities, escrip signups and Sumac's afterschool enrichment program.

The kickoff will provide families with a onestop shopping opportunity to purchase school supplies, Sumac apparel, 31-Minute Club cards, entertainment books and a special offer on Sumac Giving Tree leaves.

Families can also contribute to the Sumac PFA's Direct Donation Drive. Sumac families will receive a free raffle ticket for each $50 that a family contributes to the Direct Donation Drive before BacktoSchool Night on Sept. 11.

Direct Donation provides for educational programming at Sumac that is not paid for by the school district, including the artist-in-residence program and salaries for music, computer, PE and library staff.
