Agoura Hills doctor remains confident about a cure for Alzheimer's

      Struggling to speak through her tears, Mary Ann Holstrom told a group at Senior Concerns in Thousand Oaks earlier this month that it's difficult to watch a loved one slowly succumb to Alzheimer's disease. The retired mental health nurse said families dealing with the disease should continue the activities they love to do.

Hospice volunteers needed
      Hospice of the Conejo will begin a new volunteer training program on Wednesdays, starting in September, in the conference room at 80 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The dates are Sept. 10, 17, 24, and Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.
