Area residents asked to comment on county's new General Plan
Rural Agoura, Calabasas and Westlake residents will be affected
      The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning is seeking public comment on its newly released Draft General Plan, which will serve as the guide for the growth and development of unincorporated areas in the county.

Agoura Hills Dial-A-Ride expands service to San Fernando Valley
      Agoura Hills officials announced they will expand service of their popular doortodoor DialA-Ride program with the addition of a Kaiser Hospital stop in Woodland Hills beginning next month. Additional points of service in Woodland Hills, such as Target, are also being considered, said Meredith Petit, Agoura Hills recreation supervisor.

      Unlike the state of California and its sea of red ink, the city of Calabasas is forecasting smooth sailing ahead. Calabasas CFO Gary Lysik recently unveiled a $55million budget for the fiscal years 2008-2010.

      George A. Jones has joined the board of directors for the Hospice of the Conejo. Jones is a certified senior advisor and owner of the local Home Helpers office. He has been employed with General Motors Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Prudential Securities, and is a consultant to Jones Wall Street which he founded in 1995.

Troop 246 of West Hills teamed up with Troop 642 of Hidden Hills for the project. Weintraub was performing his Eagle Scout community service project.

      The Ventura County Writers Club is sponsoring the ninth annual Short Story Contest. The grand prize is $500 and publication in the Ventura County Star . Second prize is $250 and third prize is $120. All stories must be original and not previously published in any newspaper, magazine, or book, regardless of the amount of compensation.

      Westlake Village Junior Women's Club members presented a $15,000 check to Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship on Aug. 9 at the organization's Newbury Park ranch. The donation will be used to replace the flooring in the ranch's stable.
