Schools want to expand arts and music
      The Las Virgenes Unified School District is looking at sweeping changes to its elementary art and music program. At the July 22 board of education meeting, a school district Art and Music Task Force that was created to develop recommendations on how to spend state money earmarked for art and music programs presented its vision and implementation plan.

      Many private colleges were founded by religious groups, and while a lot of these schools are secular institutions today, religious affiliation is a factor for students to consider as choose they a college. The largest group of religiously affiliated colleges is Catholic, with more than 200 schools in the United States.

Mock SAT scheduled at high school
Students receive results on site
      A mock SAT test will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 6 in the Media Center a tCalabasas High School, 22855 W. Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas. Cost is $20. Scores will be available upon completion of the test.

AHS cheer squad earns spirit award
      CAMP OF CHAMPS— Agoura High School's Spirit Team, the national champions known as the Charger Girls, recently garnered top awards in the United Spirit Association Camp of Champions. The invitation-only camp is conducted for nationally-ranked teams. Finalists included seniors Sean Batt, left, with winner Allison Goldman and Kristin Elliott.

Local student named Regent Scholar
      BRIGHT FUTURE— Monique Ambrose was recently named one of UC Santa Barbara's Regent Scholars, the highest honor awarded to incoming students at the university. Ambrose will be attending the College of Creative Studies at UCSB, referred to as "a graduate school for undergraduates." She was valedictorian while attending Agoura High School.
