Chinese restaurant experience brings good fortune

I write this to share my gratitude and appreciation for an experience which is so refreshing. We are surrounded by reading and hearing such bad news of crimes, deception, dishonor, and theft, but what happened in my story restored my faith in mankind.

At 11 a.m. Mon, Aug. 4 my doorbell rang. I saw through the peep hole that my caller was an Asian man who announced that he was from the Chinese restaurant that I dined at the night before. I opened the door to find he was handing me my wallet, which I didn't even know was missing yet. I was so astounded, amazed, and grateful. There wasn't a single thing missing.

He pulled out a credit card and told me that they had called to try to find out my telephone number, which wasn't given to them. But he wanted to be sure I understood that I would now have to call to receive a new membership number. But this was such a small task compared to losing and replacing all the identification cards and money. So without a phone number, but just my address on my driver's license, Jason came to my door to return my wallet.

The restaurant was Lakeview Garden in Westlake, which also serves the best Chinese food in L.A. and Ventura counties. I went back to the restaurant that day to personally thank Javiar, the bus boy that found the wallet and brought it to the front desk, to Pam who tried every way she could to find my phone number, and to Jason who personally found my house and delivered it to me.

Words cannot express my gratitude. It's so rare to find such honorable people in today's world. Thank you again.
