Calabasas woman honored for promoting disability awareness

Dina Kaplan of Calabasas received the E.P. Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award for her advocacy work for people with special needs on Dodgers Disability Awareness Night July 30 at Dodger Stadium.

Kaplan is an attorney specializing in special education law and the parent of a child with special needs.

She created the KEN (Kids with Exceptional Needs) Project, spearheaded a universally accessible playground in Calabasas and, with her husband Michael Kaplan, developed the Brandon Kaplan Special Needs Program at Congregation Or Ami in Calabasas.
