Calabasas CFO wins award

      The chief financial officer for the city of Calabasas has been named a top CFO in the San Fernando Valley area. The San Fernando Valley Business Journal gave Gary Lysik the honor at a luncheon last week in Woodland Hills.

Local teen inspires others to perform at camp, benefit charity

      Shayna Turk of Agoura Hills has produced and directed seven musicals, performed in 23 shows and raised enough money to save the lives of several children suffering from congenital heart disease. Shayna is 16 years old.

Step into Africa through interactive AIDS exhibit

      An interactive exhibit which calls attention to the plight of African children affected by AIDS is coming to Westlake Village. The 2,340-square-foot display will be at Calvary Community Church from Aug. 22 to 26. Staffed by 300 volunteers, the free presentation will be open to the public.

Calabasas woman honored for promoting disability awareness
      Dina Kaplan of Calabasas received the E.P. Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award for her advocacy work for people with special needs on Dodgers Disability Awareness Night July 30 at Dodger Stadium. Kaplan is an attorney specializing in special education law and the parent of a child with special needs.
