Prudential California Realty Helps Send Deputies To Iceland Broker/owner Bob Majorino has put the entire company's support behind the Ventura County Sheriff's Department Cops Running For Charity, a nonprofit group comprised of deputies, all of whom have spent their careers serving local communities. In 2006, they ran across the Sahara Desert in North Africa, to raise nearly $20,000 to benefit Childrens Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, Alzheimer's Foundation, Hospice, and Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). In 2007, they ran the Great Wall of China Marathon for which the group raised $20,000 to benefit Childrens Hospital, MakeA-Wish Foundation, and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. This week, the team will tackle yet another extreme run to raise funds for charities. They are leaving for Iceland to run cross-country over volcanoes and icecovered rivers. The group gives 100 percent of the proceeds raised to charity. The deputies pay all of their own expenses to travel to these remote destinations, and train year-round to achieve their goals. This year they are trying to raise $30,000 for their respective causes. To that end, Prudential California Realty is planning a special fundraiser later this fall to give the deputies a big financial boost plus welcome their safe return from Iceland. Meanwhile, they are continuing to raise money to while they're running. "Giving is simple," said Capt. Randy Pentis. Their motto is "We make a living by what we get— we make a life by what we give." To donate, make checks payable to "CRFC" and mail to: Attn.: Capt. Randy Pentis, CRFC, 2101 E. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360. |
