23rd Annual Golf Classic To Be Hosted
Monies raised from the tournament go toward scholarships granted to local graduating seniors who are recognized for their outstanding leadership and community involvement. The scholarship is called "The Spirit of the Community Award." Students fill out rigorous applications, including an Activities Resume. They are also asked to state what they intend to do to continue the spirit of the community in the future. Perhaps most challenging, they are asked to describe what sets them apart from their classmates. "We believe that supporting our local schools will pay huge dividends and reaffirm our strong commitment to our local community," said broker/owner Bob Majorino. "This is why our 2008 Prudential Golf Classic is again dedicated to our local high schools, by awarding scholarships to graduating seniors." Monies raised from last year's tournament will fund this year's eight $1,500 college scholarship grants for these graduating seniors toward their first year of college. There is one from each of eight local high schools. This year, the award winners come from Westlake, Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Oak Park, Newbury Park, Moorpark, Fillmore, and Adolfo Camarillo High Schools. Their documented support of their community is outstanding. For this, they deserve recognition and honor. "We are asking local businesses to get involved by becoming a sponsor and making a donation to help support this year's fundraising efforts," Majorino continued. "Your company's name will be listed in our 2008 Prudential California Realty Golf Classic program and in the Ventura County Star as a contributor. If you can contribute a raffle prize, silent auction item or a gift card/certificate from your business, please let us know. Contact information is listed below. We can pick up your donation, or you may drop it off at our office at 2860 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks, CA." For a $195 registration fee, golfers will enjoy a day on the course plus a banquet to follow, during which the scholarship winners will be honored. Nongolfers are also invited to join the festivities for the dinner. A donation of $37.50 per person will secure a place at the table. Space is limited so please don't delay.
