Bumpy issue

We live at one of two speed humps on Adamore Road in Calabasas and it is interesting to watch the cars proceeding over the two humps.

First, the speed limit is obviously 25 mph. But the speeds of cars going along this straight stretch of road reach 40 mph. As they approach the first hump they slow down to proceed over it. After they have gone over it they accelerate to the speed they were going before going over the first hump.

They then brake to go over the second hump, which is approximately 400 feet beyond the first hump. After going over the second hump they return to the speed they were going before they arrived at the first hump.

I wonder how much gas it takes to accelerate over the 400 feet? And if one does this twice a day for 30 days, what might the gas usage be? There has to be a bit of wear on the brakes, too. Mike Bird Calabasas
