Have a great time while helping a worthy cause When was the last time that you, your family and friends did something fun that also benefited a worthy cause? It's something relatively inexpensive, suitable for all ages and is close to home, not in downtown L.A., Hollywood or Las Vegas. It may sound too good to be true, but you can do all of these things the evening of Sun., Aug. 10 when the World Champion of Magic will perform one night only at the Fred Kavli Theatre in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. The show begins at 7 p.m. The featured performer is magician Jason Latimer, who happens to be a 1999 graduate of Agoura High School. Latimer's show is titled "Illusions of the 21st Century" and it includes segments that have won international acclaim. He shapes water, bends light, makes large objects appear and disappear and performs levitation. You won't believe your eyes. Proceeds from the show will benefit children through the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Charitable Foundation. The Kiwanis Club of T.O. was recently named Service Club of the Year for helping youth, seniors and others in need. Good seats are still available and tickets range in price from $37 to $75 for adults, and $29 for children 18 and under. Latimer will also donate tickets to youngsters who otherwise couldn't have attended. He's performed in more than 40 countries and is bringing the latest and greatest version back home to Conejo Valley. By attending you'll help the Kiwanis feed hungry kids; help local schools; assist Many Mansions and Big Brothers and Big Sisters; and provide scholarships, among other charitable acts for young people. To order tickets, call the Kavli Theatre box office at (805) 449-2787 or Ticketmaster at (805) 583-8700. For more information, see the story and ad on page 14 or visit the website at www.jasonlatimer.com. We'll see you at the show! |
