Limited time to comment on Agoura Village
Environmental watchdog group Save Open Space believes the development will trample the local ecology

      There's still time for residents to submit their comments about the revised environmental impact report for the Agoura Village plan, a city official said. Residents have until Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. to express their concerns about the proposed residential and commercial development, said Allison Cook, Agoura Hills senior planner.

Museum fundraiser takes off
      HIGH-FLYING PRIZE- President Judy Phelps of the Santa Paula Aviation Museum shows off a 1947 Stinson Voyager that the museum will raffle off in September to raise funds. The airplane is valued at $25,000. The winner will be given a choice between the airplane or $20,000 in cash. Tickets cost $100. Cash prizes of $5,000, $2,000 and $250 will also be awarded.

Calabasas meets recycling goals

      The city of Calabasas says it has made great strides in having its residents recycle everything from television sets to oil filters. The Calabasas City Council adopted a resolution earlier this year requiring 75 percent of the city's trash to be recycled by 2012.

Westlake High student to star in upcoming 'Scooby Doo'film

      Hayley Kiyoko Alcroft is leaving Westlake Village this summer for a jaunt to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada to star as Velma in the new "Scooby Doo" movie. The 17-year-old is excited about playing Velma, a character she relates to for her energy and her analytical skills.

Wildlife center gathers for 10th anniversary
      California Wildlife Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a "Way Wild" fundraiser Sun., Aug. 10 at Gull's Way Estate in Malibu. The fundraiser will include wine tasting, cuisine from top chefs and Malibu restaurants, children's activities, intuitive readings and healing sessions, and silent and live auctions.
