•Children are invited to "Catch the Reading Bug." Children earn "coins" for reading books, and redeem the coins for prizes. Presentations are at 3:30 on Tuesdays.

The schedule includes Buster Balloon on July 15, Happening Rusty Comedy Variety Show on July 22, and Stephen the Spectacular on July 29.

•Teens are invited to the Movies and Smoothies summer reading program. Participants may read the book and then watch the movie from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.

•The County of Los Angeles Public Library has opened its new Integrated Library System system. I Bistro is the county's new online catalogue.

Patrons can search for items, place holds, renew borrowed materials, change their PIN, request an address or email change or communicate with library staff. The online catalogue is available 24 hours every day.

As part of the new system, books are no longer stamped with the due date. Instead patrons will receive a printed receipt when they check out books.

•The library's Book Cellar is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Books for children and adults, books on tape, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and magazines are available for purchase. Paperback books start at 50 cents and hardcover books start at $1. Donations are always accepted.
