Water science class open

Las Virgenes Municipal Water District and Triunfo Sanitation District are seeking incoming high school juniors and seniors to participate in a sixday environmental and water science workshop.

Program dates are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mon., July 14 to Thurs., July 17 and 4 to 6 p.m. Tues., July 22.

The workshop will give students the opportunity to meet with and learn from industry leaders in environmental policy setting and natural resource management.

Topics include natural influences in Malibu Creek Watershed, urban influences and minimizing negative impacts, the urban water cycle and environmental and public policy decision making.

Much of the workshop will be conducted in the field, particularly on the Malibu Creek Watershed.

The program will culminate with students attending an afternoon briefing and participating in a board of directors meeting.
