Ventura County Arts Council honors students
      The Ventura County Arts Council recently hosted a recognition ceremony for the arts scholars from Ventura County. Each student has been accepted to attend the 2008 California State Summer School for the Arts/Innerspark session at Cal Arts in Valencia.

      Ten local high school students have been selected as Rhodes Junior Apprentices for the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival.

Local students accepted into military academies
      Twelve young men and women from the 24th Congressional District have been accepted to U.S. military academies, representing six different high schools in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Four local applicants were accepted to the Air Force Academy.

Water science class open
      Las Virgenes Municipal Water District and Triunfo Sanitation District are seeking incoming high school juniors and seniors to participate in a sixday environmental and water science workshop. Program dates are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mon., July 14 to Thurs., July 17 and 4 to 6 p.m. Tues., July 22.

Practice SAT test offered at Agoura High
Students will get test scores
      The Agoura High School PFC will host a practice SAT from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sat., July 26 at the high school, 28545 W. Driver Ave., Agoura Hills. Cost is $20. Money raised will benefit the Agoura High School PFC. Scores will be available upon completion of the test.
