      On behalf of the Pryor family, I wish to thank all those responsible for their prayers, kind wishes and love in helping us celebrate the life of our son and brother Kevin Patrick Pryor. Kevin was born, raised and schooled in Oak Park. He died two weeks ago after returning home from the wildland fires in Northern California.

Driving home a point
      I feel compelled to write regarding last week's Acorn Opinion piece on the hands-free cellphone law for drivers starting July 1. I'm afraid the Acorn is another victim of the political propaganda machine up in Sacramento when it comes to "proof" that hands-free devices prevent accidents.

Development leads to cars
      I, along with many others, continue to be saddened, upset and frustrated when we see new office parks, strip malls, stores, etc. emerging in our city. Why is this? The zoning laws are the problem. It isn't that land is being developed, but rather the type of projects that are being built.

      The Triunfo Sanitation District should elect all five board members in an at-large election. That was the unanimous vote by the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) on Tues., June 24.

      On the cover of the 2007 Annual Water Quality Report, the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District has four boxes, with language I can not read, labeled Chinese, Korean, Spanish and German. Does this mean the report is exported to other countries? (China, Korea, Spain/Mexico and Germany?
