History preservation group formed

The Calabasas City Council approved the final nomination to the newly created Historic Preservation Committee.

The majority of the council members had appointed their nominees- Judy Jordan, Kim Lamorie, Victor Pesiri, Taryn Wayne and Debra Bruschaber- in May. Councilmember Barry Groveman made his nomination- Jason Peirce- and it was approved at last week's meeting.

The committee will identify and protect Calabasas' historical resources and heritage by recommending properties to be designated as historic and reviewing alterations to those properties to ensure they keep their architectural character and historic integrity, said Mayor Mary Sue Maurer.

At the group's first meeting, which was held in May, Wayne was named chair, and Pesiri was named vice chair.

The commission's next meeting is scheduled for Wed., July 9.
